In the New Testament church it says they were all amazed - And now in our churches everybody wants to be amused.
There is a deeper life. It is as deep as a personal Gethsemane and as costly as a personal Calvary.
One of the most amazing things Jesus said is that at the judgment seat, preachers are going to say `I cast out devils, and Jesus will say `I never knew you.
A true shepherd leads the way. He does not merely point the way.
Every step you make in Jesus Christ enrages the devil.
The world has lost the power to blush over its vice; the Church has lost her power to weep over it.
John the Baptist never performed any miracles. Yet, he was greater than any of the Old Testament prophets.
The secret of praying is praying in secret.
Can any deny that in the modern church setup the main cause of anxiety is money? Yet that which tries the modern churches the most, troubled the New Testament Church the least. Our emphasis is on paying; theirs was on praying. When we have paid, the place is taken; when they had prayed, the place was shaken!

The Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Power helpeth our infirmity in prayer. The Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Life ends our deadness in prayer. Do the Pentecostals look back with shame as they remember when they dwelt across the theological tracks, but with the glory of the Lord in their midst? When they had a normal church life, which meant nights of prayers, followed by signs and wonders, and diverse miracles, and genuine gifts of the Holy Ghost? When they were not clock watchers, and their meetings lasted for hours, saturated with holy power? Have we no tears for these memories, or shame that our children know nothing of such power?

Jeremiah was a sobbing saint. Jesus wept! So did Paul. So did John. Though there are some tearful intercessors behind the scenes, I grant you that to our modern Christianity, praying is foreign.
The brutal, soul-shaking truth is that we are so earthly minded we are of no heavenly use.
If weak in prayer we are weak everywhere.
God doesn't answer prayer, He answers desperate prayer!

Men give advice; God gives guidance.
Men of prayer must be men of steel, for they will be assaulted by Satan even before they attempt to assault his kingdom.
What are you going to do when you get to eternity, if you can't stick in an hour with God down here?
Preaching is not a profession, it's a passion! If a man can't preach with passion he shouldn't preach at all.
