A pun calls the meaning of a word into question, and it upsets us tremendously. We laugh because suddenly we find out we're not going to get killed. I think a lot of things work that way with photographs.
We are human. Some days are harder than others. One day something will upset me more than it would have the day before.
Just as I am not upset with somebody who has caught a cold, so too I am not upset with somebody who's caught the faith virus.
Truth above all, even when it upsets us and overwhelms us.
I think my first song ever was when my cat died. It was this awful, dreadful black cat who was angry and hated everything. Yet I was so upset when it died.
I have also seen [Adolf] Hitler upset when they had been having words. He was not immune from being bothered or upset by their relationship.
[Adolf Hitler] was Austrian, so he knew how to play that role [being capable of apologizing]. In fact, it wasn't playacting, it was just part of who he was. He hated to see women cry or women upset.
[Adolf Hitler] would wear whatever what was put in front of him. He didn't match his ties or his shoes with his clothes, it was as if he deliberately dressed in such a way as to get Eva to get upset. It was his form of teasing or perhaps of controlling [Eva Braun], manipulating her emotions.
Diane Wilson asked, "Why aren't people upset? Why aren't people protesting?" The mayor and county commissioners told her to keep quiet, and everybody else was afraid to speak out against the companies, which included some of the country's biggest chemical companies. There were even attempts on her life. Family members abandoned her, and certainly none of the other shrimpers stood with her.
I get upset when people say Americans are stupid.
You look at the inner cities,I just left Detroit, and I just left Philadelphia.nd I've met some of the greatest people I'll ever meet within these communities. And they are very, very upset with what their politicians have told them and what their politicians have done.
If I do a move I don't like, I don't want to get so upset with myself.
I don't want to talk about the vampire schedule. That's just gonna upset me.
I'm just upset that we've been distracted by so much noise and vulgarity when we could be trying to talk about how our country can get stronger.
The bad guys, when they start getting picked off, they're upset that their friends died, too. But that's the thing. That's what life is. It's that weird gray area.
The D.C. vs. Heller decision was very strongly and she was extremely angry about it. I watched. I mean, [Hillary Clinton] was very, very angry when upheld. And Justice [Antonine] Scalia was so involved. And it was a wellcrafted decision. But Hillary [Clinton] was extremely upset, extremely angry.
People that believe in the Second Amendment and believe in it very strongly were very upset with what Hillary Clinton had to say.
Obviously, we're really upset about the state of the election. It's horrifying, as everybody knows, that we could have a totally fascist president.
Breakup blackout is when you're so upset and you've been crying so much that you basically black out for a couple of days. You wake up to mascara caked on your face and empty ice cream cartons everywhere, and your iTunes has, like, four new really bad romantic comedies you've rented. And your friends are texting you, and for three days you're in this black hole.
For me personally, I don't go onto Twitter or Facebook, my hubby helps me out because sometimes I'm concerned that I'll see something that will upset me, and I don't have a way to work it out with that person.
I do think they [French] view my writing itself as exotic - though that's probably not the best term for it - to a small extent, mainly because I say things that most French writers would probably hesitate to say for fear of offending someone or upsetting public sensibilities. I don't think that answers the question, but I'm not much good at figuring readers out or I would probably be writing bestsellers.
The only thing I really feel is necessary is that the black people, not only in Mississippi, will have to actually upset this applecart. What I mean by that is, so many things are under the cover that will have to be swept out and shown to this whole world, not just to America. This thing they say of "the land of the free and the home of the brave" is all on paper.
Some things I found out in the National Convention I wasn't too glad I did find out. But we will work hard, and it was important to actually really bring this out to the open, the things I will say some people knew about and some people didn't; this stuff that has been kept under the cover for so many years. Actually, the world and America is upset and the only way to bring about a change is to upset it more.
Now I don't get upset by unpleasant things, I don't play the victim, and I'm always ready to come to terms with life.
All of the external circumstances and the rude and difficult people we meet, instead of getting angry, upset, or frustrated, we see that we can take them all and use them on the path in a way that actually invigorates and strengthens us, rather than defeats us. It's all very practical advice, and that's why I talk a lot about how to make our daily life into Dharma practice, otherwise it's easy to feel hopeless and helpless.
